As leaked by a Reddit user as well as PayPal beforehand, the annual Steam Summer Sale has now begun, with the store discounting thousands of its games and other available items. Although we aren’t getting a repeat of 2015's addictive clicker mini-game, this time around Valve has included a virtual sticker book.
The Steam store is getting hammered by users at the time of writing this article, but according to a hastily opened FAQ page, users can collect virtual stickers by completing daily store-related 'quests'. These range from going through the discovery queue, viewing activity pages and setting store preferences.
Once a quest is completed, users are given a sticker pack containing three unique stickers, which can be seen in their Steam profile page's sticker book. The usual trading cards are also back for the event.
Some highlights from the sale include up to 50% off the Call of Duty franchise, the new Guardians of the Galaxy by Telltale down by 33%, Mafia III 63% off, and Bethesda's new FPS Prey discounted by 34%.
Civilization VI has a 40% discount, with 2016's Doom, Watch Dogs 2 and Quantum Break all reduced by 50%. This year's Steam Summer Sale has a good mixture of new and old titles with respectable discounts on offer, so be sure to scour it for some hidden gems.
